NORTHBROOK CAUCUS SLATE IS SET

Northbrook, Ill. -- The Caucus Committee of the Northbrook Caucus of 2013 has completed the process of nominating its candidates for positions on the Northbrook Village Board, the Northbrook Park District Board, the Northbrook Library Board, Northbrook School District 27 Board, and Northbrook School District 28 Board.

On November 17, 2012, a Town Meeting and Regional School District Meetings were held at Greenbriar School, during which those in attendance voted to select the Caucus slate of candidates for the upcoming April 2013 elections.  

The following candidates are the Caucus-nominated candidates:

For Northbrook School District 27:  Helen Melnick, Ed Feld, Jamie Werhane and Laurie Garber-Amram.  Mr. Feld, Ms. Melnick and Ms. Werhane are current board members.  Ms. Garber-Amram is a first time candidate.

For Northbrook School District 28:  Joshua Prober, Anthony Forchetti, Michael Gilmore and Louis Gross.  Mr. Prober and Mr. Forchetti are current board members, Mr. Gilmore and Mr. Gross are first-time candidates.

For the Northbrook Park District board:  Penelope Randel, Michael Schyman and Paul Zima.  All three are current board members.

For the Northbrook Library board:  Carlos Frum, Vera Mayer and Daphna Nierick.  Mr.  Frum and Ms. Mayer are current board members.  Ms. Neirick was appointed to a vacant position and this is her first time running for the board.

For the Northbrook Village Board:  Sandra Frum (Village President), Debra Ford (Village Clerk), Kathryn Ciesla, Todd Heller and Michael Scolaro..  All are currently trustees.

The Northbrook Caucus of 2013 is a citizen's screening committee made up of volunteers who are registered voters from precincts across Northbrook.  Following a review of candidate applications and interviews that took place in October by subcommittees, the full Caucus Committee voted to recommend candidates to those in attendance at the Town Meeting and Regional School District meetings.  All candidates recommended by the Caucus won positions on the Caucus slate as a result of voting at the Town Meeting and Regional District Meetings.

NORTHBROOK CAUCUS COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS CANDIDATES

Northbrook, Ill. -- The Caucus Committee of the Northbrook Caucus of 2013 has completed the first step in the process of recommending candidates for positions on the Northbrook Village Board, the Northbrook Park District Board, the Northbrook Library Board, Northbrook School District 27 Board, and Northbrook School District 28 Board.

At a meeting of the full Caucus Committee on Saturday, October 13, the Caucus Committee voted to approve the recommendations of the five subcommittees that had reviewed applications submitted by interested candidates, performed due diligence, and interviewed all applicants.  The following candidates earned the Caucus Committee's recommendation:

For Northbrook School District 27:  Helen Melnick, Jamie Werhane, and Ed Feld.  All three are current board members.  One board position remains open.

For Northbrook School District 28:  Joshua Prober, Louis Gross, and Michael Gilmore and Anthony Forchetti.  Mr. Prober and Mr. Forchetti are a current board members, Mr. Gross and Mr. Gilmore are first-time candidates.

For the Northbrook Park District board:  Penelope Randel, Michael Schyman and Paul Zima.  All  are current board members.

For the Northbrook Library board:  Carlos Frum, Vera Mayer, and Daphna Neirick.  All three are current board members.

For the Northbrook Village Board:  Sandra Frum (Village President), Debra Ford (Village Clerk), Kathryn Ciesla, Todd Heller and Michael Scolaro (Village Board).  All are currently trustees. 

"The candidate screening subcommittees did great work in advance of the meeting on Saturday," said Tony Ryan, the Caucus chairman.  "The Caucus will recommend these candidates enthusiastically at the upcoming Town Meeting."

The Northbrook Caucus of 2013 is a citizen's screening committee made up of volunteers who are registered voters from precincts across Northbrook.  The final Caucus slate of candidates for the Park District, Library, and Village boards will be selected at a Town Meeting to be held November 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Greenbriar School Auditorium.  All registered voters who reside in the Village are invited and encouraged to attend that meeting and vote on the candidates who are recommended and/or appear at the Town Meeting seeking the Caucus's nomination.  The recommended candidates are invited to attend and address the Town Meeting, as are interested candidates who are not being recommended by the Caucus Committee provided they are nominated from the floor at the Town Meeting.

The Northbrook Caucus of 2013 is a citizens' screening committee that will slate candidates for public office in the Village of Northbrook for the April 2013 elections.

The final slate of Caucus candidates for the April 2013 elections will be selected at the Town Meeting and Regional School District Meetings and will take place on November 17, 2012.  The current incumbents are  the following:
  • For Village President -- Sandra Frum
  • For Village Trustee --  Michael Scolaro, Todd Heller, and Kathryn Ciesla
  • For Village Clerk --  Debra Ford
  • For Park District commissioner -- Penelope Randel, Michael Schyman, and Paul Zima
  • For Library board -- Carlos Frum, Sue Conat, and Vera Mayer
  • For School District 27 board -- Ed Feld, Jamie Werhane, Helen Melnick, and Kevin Ponticelli
  • For School District 28 board --  Elisa Glass, Madeleine Fern, Anthony Forchetti, and Josh Prober
Candidates will be selected following a three-step process.  First, subcommittees for each political subdivision will receive applications from and will interview all candidates who elect to interview with the Caucus, and will report their recommendations to the full Caucus Committee.  Second, the full Caucus Committee will vote on the subcommittee recommendations in a private meeting of Caucus members.  Finally, residents of these political subdivisions will attend the Town Meeting and/or Regional School District Meetings and will vote on the candidates to determine the Caucus's slate.

We urge all registered voters to vote in April 2013.
